Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-2, Rajshahi. The tribunal convicted Md. Shahjahan Gazi (60), the local mosque's imam and a teacher of Arabic to children at a hafizia madrasa, of raping a twelve-year-old child, and sentenced him to life imprisonment with hard labour, a fine of 100,000 taka, and three months' further imprisonment (simple) in default. In 2018 the imam took the child behind his house while no one else was present, raped the child, and threatened to kill the child if the assault were disclosed.
