1ª Vara Criminal de Guaíba, Rio Grande do Sul. Diego da Silva Correa, 44, a former priest of the Nossa Senhora de Fátima parish, was convicted by Judge Andreia da Silveira Machado of rape of a vulnerable person and possession of child sexual-abuse material, and sentenced to 18 years and 10 months in closed regime. The court found he used the trust generated by the May 2024 Rio Grande do Sul flood disaster, in which the parish provided aid, to approach and abuse a nine-year-old girl between May and August 2024.
